City to be mothballed as budget cuts hit the bone

The scale of cuts coming to city services in Hamilton can only be described as immense.

The vast cost savings prepared in the city’s draft budget for the decade 2024-34, will be put to councillors to vote on Tuesday at an extraordinary session of the council.

Slated to be “unfunded” are 88 different projects and services from across each of the five priorities Hamiltonians identified to council were important to them in a 2020 project to take the pulse of the city. The result will see a city slowly mothballed.
